Crown's Closet is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in our community by addressing essential needs and promoting literacy. Our mission is to provide schools throughout the parish with hygiene items, carefully packaged in small, discreet bags and delivered directly to the schools. We believe in the dignity and well-being of every student, ensuring they have what they need to feel confident and healthy.
Our commitment extends to fighting hunger; we actively collect food to stock the pantry at SLU, driven by the belief that no one should ever go hungry. Additionally, we collect and distribute jackets and coats to schools across the parish, ensuring that every child has warmth during the colder months.
In our quest to nurture a love for reading and imagination, we maintain a Little Library in Amite, stocked with books for individuals to borrow and enjoy. This initiative reflects our chapter's dedication to literacy, and we aspire to establish more Little Libraries in the future, spreading the joy of reading far and wide. Our marquee event is the Back 2 School Bash, a vibrant collaboration with Tangi Crime Stoppers. This free, public event marks the start of the school year with excitement and support. We provide school supplies and backpacks, ensuring every child is prepared for a successful academic journey. Through these efforts, Crown's Closet strives to create a supportive and inspiring environment for all members of our community, driven by the belief that together, we can make a difference.
Back 2 School Bash This year JAT members filled over 200 backpacks and 30 drawstring bags with school supplies to hand out at the Independence Leadership Academy in Independence, LA. Monetary donations from Tangipahoa Parish businesses and organizations were used to purchase the school supplies. Thanks to Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa, Inc and the community leaders of Independence for partnering with us on this great event. We are so proud to be apart of such a supportive community.
